ABOUT ME

I am a very easy going person and a therapist that is willing to listen and work through what ever situation that you would like to focus on. I am no stranger to working with trauma, stress, loss of sense of self and being alone. Therapy is not about the therapist working to tell you what to do, it is more about working together to find a solution. I have been in practice for about 20 years and I have learned a lot about individuals and how each person can be able to identify and walk into your own truth.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for about 7 years with a focus on clinical psychology. My experience with clients include working with prenatal issues, parenting problems, ADHD, personality disorders, adoption and foster care, depression, anxiety, incarceration, substance abuse, reentry into society, trauma, physical and emotional abuse.

I use many different approaches in therapy including CBT, DBT, RRT, Existential, Trauma Focused, Solution Focused, Narrative Therapy, psychodynamic and humanistic along with others types.

My therapy style is warm, interactive and kind. Kindness to me is respecting the worth and uniqueness of every single child, family member, and colleague and indivudual, giving honest, direct, and productive feedback. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. Your path of treatment will be tailored to the therapeutic approach I will use to meet your specific needs. Along the process if other issues come up we will work together to find an approach that you feel comfortable with to help you be your best version of you possible.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

  • What is therapy like?

Therapy is a process that is going to look different for every client, due to the personalized nature of any solutions and the different problems everyone faces in their lives. You can expect to be asked to talk about current events in your life at therapy sessions, along with past events in your life when they relate to the things being discussed. Sessions often include reporting back to the therapist on any insights you gained reflecting on prior sessions, and how you've progressed. Many clients are recommended to continue reading relevant books or working on therapy outside of the sessions with the counselor.

  • How long will therapy take?

The duration of therapy is entirely dependent on the individual clients, as while some clients will only require short term therapy, others may need it over a longer period. However, therapy is a two-way street, and it's important that clients work with us and participate in sessions actively, in order to get the best results. They will get more out of treatment sessions if they put more effort into them.

  • Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the most important aspects of therapy, ensuring privacy between a therapist and their clients to guarantee trust. While the topics discussed in sessions cannot and will not be shared to anyone without your explicit written permission, there are a small number of situations in which law and professional ethics do require the therapist to breach confidentiality.

    • If the therapist has good reason to suspect that their client is in danger of harming themselves or plans to harm another person.
    • If the therapist suspects past or present abuse or neglect of dependents, especially children, they may be required to report it to relevant authorities based on the client's statements.
